Fulltimer

10 months ago we moved into a motor home - packed up what we needed and moved to Lexington, KY. I won’t lie and say it has been a joyride. There have been ups and downs. Mostly I think the area of Lexington really make me ill and grumpy.

Lack of space inside coupled with a shitty neighborhood outside didn’t make for easy living.

That’s changed. We are living in NC and the park we are at is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. LK is working long hours 4 days a week - so I have plenty of quiet time alone to wind down and craft or read.

There are birds galore, squirrels and deer - even the odd lizard or two.

I feel safe and am enjoying for the first time fulltiming. Now if we could get the house sold so we could travel some with this — it would be perfect.

Doctor Doctor

I had my first doctor visit today with the new MD. Went pretty well. Met with a PA and not the MD but that isn’t a problem. Both my MIL and FIL are PAs so I am pretty comfortable with Physician Assts.

Got the usual poking and prodding - also got my medications started back up. It feels so good having kick ass medical insurance.

I am hoping that getting back on meds can help me get the pain back under control. I am looking forward to a good nights sleep and waking up without such an incredible amount of pain.

They are referring me to a fibro specialist and I am on the lookout of a massage therapist. I have an acupuncturist picked out — just have to get the insurance worked out on that. So it really looks like that by summer I will be well on my way to getting things under control.

Yay me.

For all of the hooplah that was made over CSI actor George Eads appearing on “Two and a Half Men” — it sure didn’t amount to much. Yeah I saw it — but I am glad I tivo’d it - because had I blinked.

For those of you who don’t know George Eads .. he is a former HDH. He also plays “Nick Stokes” on CSI.

No he isn’t the reason I am into forensics. But I tell yah — if more 4n6 people were as pretty, the blood and guts may not be so hard to stomach. = )

I caught a commercial (usually I skip them - thanks TiVo) for Almay’s smart shade makeup.

Usually I ignore make up. I wear very little of it. I am so pale I have a hard time finding a shade light enough. Since the orange line is not my style I just skip it altogether. But today I saw it and thought I would try it.

I am smitten. This stuff is amazing. It goes on white. Then like magic it blends in. Perfect. No lines, no smears … lovely stuff.

Iron Man

Okay - I feel a little guilty for liking this one. I was prepared to hate it. When LK said he wanted to see it to be honest there were a few others I could have gone for instead.

I have had a thing for Robert Downey, Jr. since … Weird Science? Tuff Turf? Hrm. He was always the one you like to hate. I always root for the ones no one likes. Or rather the ones we aren’t supposed to like. They are more interesting.

So Bob goes from pasty drug addict to buff superhero in a very smooth transistion.

I see “Julian Wells” or “Agent Royce” on screen - cocky and such a presence that you can’t look away. Then something happens … shirtless Bob — buff Bob. Whole new facet … superhero. Awesome.

Great supporting cast. Bang up effects. Good flick. Guess we are going to have to go see “The Incredible Hulk” to catch more of “Tony Stark” — oh yeah and to see Ed. Love me some Ed.

Bob if you are listening … you done good son!! Clean & Sober agrees with you!!

*Oh I almost forgot … we saw the movie with Hapnor and her hubby Spores. Great to finally meet you!! We had a lot of fun. See yah soon!!

Steak is good.

We grilled the steaks that I got at WF. Calling them a steak isn’t right. It is like calling a DaVinci a doodle. Just doesn’t fit.

These tenderlions were AMAZING. Every bit as tender as the ones from the restaurant - but .. they were cheaper, we didn’t have to deal with Raleigh traffic, drive 50 miles one way or get dressed up.

I put a little Yo Yo Ma on the ipod for background music - which LK reminded me that it was a far cry from the sugary pop noise they had playing at Prime Only. Somehow swank steak house and Britney Spears’ tunes just don’t go well together.

Back to the meat … this was the kind of steak that would turn Vegans off tofu. Really. Speaking as a former vegetarian — I know what I am saying. Now this isn’t the kind of meal that you could have often and still be above ground. Red meat drenched in butter on the grill … but as a special treat it was bang on!

I’m official now

Most people don’t call themselves a resident until they have their drivers license — me … library card.

I got my library card today. I am a happy girl now.

LK and I went to this little Mexican dive off 15 today. So far none of the places we’ve tried have white salsa. I wonder if that was just a Hampton Roads thing. The places in Lex didn’t have it either. Anyhow — the food was tasty. About as good as you get at those places. The tea was really good. Which surprises me. Usually iced tea out anywhere is instant crap or taste like they’ve never cleaned the pot.

We also stopped in at Whole Foods. (*angels sing*) Gawds how I love this place. I picked up some of their dry aged beef tenderloin — gonna see if we can outdo Prime Only. = ) By price we have — by almost 60% … woot.

NC State Trooper kicks dog — a lot.

Is this what I have gotten myself into? Now, I know there are asstards everywhere — and I am hoping this guy sees the inside of a jail cell. But I doubt it will happen …

WARNING — if you have a weak stomach do NOT watch this video.

The Trooper — Sgt. Charles L. Jones — hangs the dog from a railing on an elevated loading dock and kicks the dog repeatedly in the stomach and chest. From the story the dog had a hold of a piece of hose that Sgt. Charles L. Jones was trying to retrieve. So this is training? I would like to hang Sgt. Charles L. Jones’ ass from a railing - choking him and kicking him in the stomach.

What a complete waste of flesh. In the article the guy who took the video (why do they always take video and not help the animals??) said basically that despite it all Sgt. Charles L. Jones was still a good dog trainer. WTF. Did this guy learn how to train dogs from The Dog Screamer?

Sgt. Charles L. Jones claims the episode was not mistreatment. Which episode — where you dangle a dog from a railing and kick the shit out of him - or the episode where you were just fired and not beaten to a pulp?

Read the article here

I tried True Lemon a few years ago. 2 packets + 1 packet of splenda makes some of the best lemonade ever!!

I just got an email from them — and if you sign up for free samples they send some to the soldiers in Iraq. Kind of cool, helping a soldier defeat the axis of evil tasting water AND get some freebies.

Get some here

Storms

Yanno it just occurred to me that when there is a rain storm I sit quietly and enjoy it - the rain hitting the roof, the thunder, the wind. It is beautiful to me. Relaxing.

I need to think of life as one be thunderstorm. So when the winds of change and thunder claps in my life - I can handle it a little better than freaking out and curling up into a ball.

I wasn’t always this way. Before my parents died I could take on anything. I pushed through life and enjoyed it. Since that life altering event … I don’t know. Maybe I *DO* have PTSD. It has been 6 years - does it just get worse or better??
